Hello:
I am going to write about a movie i saw last semester in the english class that i liked so much, and i recently seen again.
The movie is Bread and Roses (2000) by Ken Loach. The plot is about a mexican immigrant woman who arrives illegally to the United States. After a while she get a job in a big company as a cleaner. Eventually She descover the company has "questionable policies" regarding the social rights for the emploies. Wuth the help of an external labor activist She fight againts these practices and encourage her collagues to strike for their employer to respect their labor rights.
I can't stop thinking what happend in this movie is the same what currently happen in my country. The social outbreak, many citizens fighting together for a better life, etc.
The other movie is a documentary named Chicago boys (2015), where it is explained how Chile arrived to the current neo-liberal free market model. Where the riches is just for a little percentaje of the population, which is very injuste by the way.
This film was made and directed by Carola Fuentes and Rafael Valdeavellano, who explains, in the voice of their protagonists, how the Chilean economic model was implemented thanks to a generation of economists who studied at the School of Economics at the University of Chicago. That why the name "Chicago Boys" is it.
What i liked the most was i understood why we have this economy.
I understood even though the "military dictatorship" ended, his Constitution and Economic Model is still used by a few to control the country.
